NEW YEAR NEW CHALLENGES FOR LEIGH CAMERA CLUB

The weekly Thursday evening meetings at Leigh Adult Education Centre in Elm Road , Leigh, start again for Leigh Camera Club on Thursday, January 10 after the long Christmas break.

This is the chance for those people who received their first digital SLR at Christmas and are mystified by aperture, ISOs and shutter speeds to come along and join this thriving club. We run beginners’ workshops for newcomers to photography and also a digital monthly Photoshop course.

They can also see just how good club photography can be, besides hearing some great lectures featuring the art. All this  between now and the end of May when the club’s 2007- 8 season comes to an end.

Club competitions are aimed at every level with judges from the Eastern Region judging classes for beginners, intermediate and advanced  in mono and colour prints plus the dieing art of transparencies.

On the first Thursday it will be monochrome prints, which are becoming more popular now with the improvement of inkjet printers for black and white. Then on  January 24  the third colour print competition of the season will be staged.

On January 17 local Blue Badge London Guide Sue Sincock will talk about Pubs, Gardens and  Churches in London   using slides taken by well-known local photographer Peter Finlay to illustrate her talk.

Highlights of the months ahead include:

  • Essex Interclub Transparency Competition, which will bring members with their top slides from all over Essex to Leigh to battle out for the title of  best club slide takers in the county.
  • On February 7, a slide lecture on South to the Falklands  with Part 2 in March.
  • May a digital lecture on Digital Press Photography.

Meetings commence at 7.45pm on Thursdays and all are welcome. For more details phone 01702 478717 or go to www.leighcameraclub.co.uk
