HIDDEN CITY GEMS

City of London badge guide  Sue Sincock, who lives in Hockley, revealed a lot of the secret sights of the City which are hidden away among the towering London skyscrapers in a slide lecture at the Leigh club on Thursday (January 17).

Entitled Pubs, Gardens and Churches in London it made keen city photographers itch to get up to London on the first sunny day in the early spring to seek out some of these hidden gems all situated in the famous square mile of the city.

What was surprising was the variety of gardens, big and small, situated in the area with many attached to the numerous churches Sue featured.

Of course, there is always the danger that when walking with the camera you might drop in on just too many  of the famous pubs like the Cheshire Cheese and fail early on to make much real progress!

The slides by Leigh professional photographer Peter Findlay were taken between the late 1990s and the present day

This was a slightly different evening for club members but seemed generally enjoyed by a good attendance.

The meeting on Thursday (January 24) is the 3rd Colour Print Competition  of the season with  classes for beginners, intermediate and advanced  with Ron Tear, MPAGB, ARPS judging the members’ entries.
