FROM WHITSTABLE

Malcolm Hardie made the long trip from Whitstable  in Kent to judge the club’s third and last mono print competition  of the season on Thursday (April 17) and his second judging session was as enjoyable for members as his first last year.

For Malcolm is that comparative rarity among judges nowadays, a judge who really thinks before he speaks and explains just how and why he is awarding points to prints.

Malcolm is a real club photo enthusiast and besides being involved in his home club, he belongs to Herne Bay and Cripplegate  and London City photographic societies.

Despite the long journey involved he seems delighted to come to the South Essex area, which he describes as “a hot bed of photography”  and particularly praised  the high standards set by the Leigh club.

On Thursday he was especially  impressed with the work in the beginners’ section and is pictured in pensive mood with the three prints to  which he awarded maximum marks.

In the advanced section Malcolm Bailey achieved a maximum with all his three prints, which  really takes some doing and is very unusual particularly as the judge set a very high standard.
